The Green Nose- its appropriate place

After having a scrumptious lunch at my aunt’s place, I sat in the living room as the elders talked about politics while browsing through the desi news channels. ‘What do you make of Raja? I feel that he will be out in no time from the game of politics.’ my uncle continued. The conversation went on but my focus remained on ‘game’ as I saw a bulging ticker crying out loud about the divorce of Pakistani tennis star, Aisam-ul-Haq. Yes, the one who got married with a bang, a few months back! Not further paying head to the ‘breaking news’, I switched back my attention to the talk of most households, politics.

As I sat in front of my laptop, a few hours later, ‘It’ was there again; right in front of me, flooding my Twitter page, my Facebook timeline, and my Youtube channel- ‘Aisam or Faha ki jori nakam!’(Aisam and Faha fail as a couple). The story was naturally a teasing piece for the Pakistani Diaspora inhabiting the twitter community. It was eminent from the tweets that that the ever ready nation had found a news in which to apply their Sherlock Holmes expertise. ‘No, it must have been the cruel mother-in-law who forced this outcome’, a tweep replied to her friend- among many other grotesque investigative remarks.

Besides the speculative lot, there were people who condemned the media for their insensitivity towards the issue. These righteous people believed that breaching the privacy of others is a moral crime and our media has once again proven itself guilty. The scenario unexpectedly became confusing when some sources started pointing out that all this drama was a hoax, that the marriage remains intact. Internet bandwidth heated up with the show of detest for the media and its irresponsible journalism. Some twerps went on to declare jihad, claiming to boycott all the channels to demonstrate their love for the country’s superstar.

Meanwhile, facebook introduced me to a more interesting fragment of the crowd. A facebook account of Faha (that I highly think of as a fake) confirmed the divorce. However it was not the status updates of the user, but the comments and posts of the guests that made me stick around. People took a new stance on this platform. They assumed the duty of saviors of the marriage; with the determination that a positive outcome would somehow save the country. Every Tom, Dick and Harry spilled out whatever, successful or unsuccessful, marital advice they could think of; from the suggestion of attending couples therapy to the novel idea of having a child! Each participant seemed a wiz of relationships. Yes, even some preteen populace! Like all other women involving stories, the perverts did not fail to surprise here. In this particular issue, they showcased their talent with heart melting proposals and the all time favorite, sexual innuendo. One of such warriors crossed all boundaries by posting his masculine photograph, hoping to be embraced as the new hubby.

Amidst all the cyber commotion, I pondered how we, the nation, have the intelligentsia to figure out and mend the trivial (excuse me for my lack of concern) cases that least relate to us, but fail to fix ourselves or for that matter the system around us. With this thought lingering around, I resumed reading the US report on the prospects of tapping geothermal energy using EGS (enhanced geothermal systems) to be able to produce 100GW in around 15 years.

I am a student and I want a laptop

Living in Sindh, I envy the students of Punjab. If only I was a student in some university in Punjab, I could get a free laptop. Imagine a free LAPTOP! Imagine how much money I could get by selling that laptop and getting a cheap PC that would be sufficient to cater my computer needs. With that extra money I could party hard with my friends for a long long time.

Imagine my happiness when I can get a free laptop without working hard. It is not offered as an incentive for some extra ordinary achievement but as a giveaway for all- look at the impartiality. I don’t care if there are people who spend their days without food, I just want a laptop cause I am a student. It’s funny how some people think that the money could have been well spent on solid developmental schemes. These people overlook the fact that these laptops would create employment opportunities; think of the people who repair these machines! Moreover think of the poor but sincere people who got the tendor to provide these laptops!
Hats, Shirts, Pants off to the PML-N government, which care so much for the students. Obviously, students don’t require state of the art research facilities; we live in Pakistan and don’t expect students to do wonders. A laptop is more important for the students; they need to relax their mind by watching movies, dances and TV-Series on their free laptop. Indeed, students have a life and they need a portable device to chat in private. How cool would it be to brag in their in-laws that the person owns a laptop? It’s like the most essential necessity.
Marvi Memon tweets, ‘I wish sindh studenTs n kp n ajk n baloch n gb cld also get laptops’. I wish that her words are blessed and wish fulfilled. So what if she never thought of it when she was in power earlier? She now has a philanthropist leadership. The leadership is concerned about the future of the students; getting votes is trivial. There is nothing more a student could ask.
Laptops can definitely play a pivotal role in the betterment of the nation, in fact I am thinking of propagating the slogan “Students with LAPTOPS- Prosperous Pakistan”. Oh, how desperately I want something that I don’t need. Nonetheless, laptops are a symbol for development and I want a developed Pakistan. I am a student and I want a laptop.

Cardiac Arrest- A Doctor’s Perspective (Excerpt from a MEMO)

It came to my attention recently that the dearly loved president of Pakistan had an unexpected cardiac episode this past day. Being a curious heart specialist that I am, I decided to start a scrupulous inquiry in the matter in hand. No need to be skeptical- It was a GENUINE medical condition!

(Google images)

Breaking it down in a succinct manner- The president was all well a month ago, satisfied by his flourishing government. Then came a powerful gush of blood to His right atrium, as a Tsunami of people gathered in the historic ground of Lahore with IK naming a dearly friend in the United States. Though the news was powerful, it couldn’t harm the president’s tough heart muscles which handled the increasing pressure with its superior elasticity.

It wasn’t long that another tremor made way in His blood supply, only this time it was enough to constrict a minor arteriole adjacent to His heart.  What I discovered was that the tremor incepted in the US by the mischief of someone named Mansoor Ejaz. Much to the surprise of the president’s personal physician, Mr President’s condition deteriorated there on. The disease proliferated deep within the body as media and members of the civil society wrote about a particular matter ponderously.

Soon the president started feeling heat from the foreign allies which not only exacerbated his sweating but also caused the shooting of His LDL levels. The disease had now been flagged precocious. Aid was sought from every possible asset; friends were incited. But alas, it was too obvious and people repudiated.
The hierarchy in the army became active and the Judiciary came into action. It was only a matter of time that Mr President faced the deadliest of the attacks.

There it was- a call from the Boss. Our president tried to act cool but His voice sounded “incoherent”; not able to handle the tension of the bicuspid valves. It was the final indication that the HOSPITAL in Abu Dhabi be prepared for Mr President.

No one is to be blamed but the hedonist people of Pakistan for their reprehensible deeds. They have flagrantly denied the philanthropist contributions of the president. Let’s all hope the president is taken good care of abroad!
